This complex book consists of six parts. The first part is called Professional Knowledge, written by Rudolf Sasvári who has already published two textbooks and numerous articles in professional journals. He’s been a private investigator since 1995, so he’s gained a considerable amount of hands-on experience. In this part, Mr. Sasvari first covers the history and legal framework of private investigation, then moves on to the theoretical and practical questions of investigating, finally he writes about data gathering and covers questions like how criminal tactics can be adopted in the field of private investigations in great detail. He finishes the first part with six true cases, through which he clarifies the epistemological, logical and methodical aspects of the profession.
The second part was written by dr. György Szűcs communication advisor. In this part, titled Reading People, Communication, dr. Szűcs writes about the role of psychology, socialization, and verbal and non-verbal interpersonal communication, thus giving excellent advice to private investigators. Outstanding is dr. Szűcs’s analysis of lie theory and the use of polygraphs, plus his advice on business communication for private investigators.
The third part, titled Psychology, Graphology, Hypnosis and Private Investigation was written by dr. Tamás Agárdi, vice-president of the Hungarian Chamber of Grapholigists and the Budapest Chamber of Graphologists, forensic graphologist, clinical psychologist, director of the Hungarian Graphology Institute and author of numerous books and publications. In this part, dr. Agárdi examines the questions of writing psychology, psychological analysis of handorigin, computer based graphometric lie detection, and he also gives an incredible tour of the extraordinary world of Hungarian forensic hypnosis.
The fourth part, titled Data Protection In Private Investigation, was written by dr. Mihály Zoltán Iszály, data expert and privacy supervisor of the Central Office of Electronic Civil Services and of the Central Office of Elections and Data Procession, a recognized and well established expert on the field. In this part, dr. Iszály shows the evolution of data protection and the legal framework in Hungary, plus the corresponding laws, the many kinds of secrets, and the system of governmental registration.
The fifth part, titled Business Intelligence and Counter-Intelligence, was written by dr. György Szövényi, security expert, general secretary of the Hungarian Security Protection Association and co-founder of the Private Investigators’ Academy of the Hungarian Detective Association. Dr. Szövényi shows the highly important role of business intelligence in the life of companies. He examines business intelligence as a project, its goals and methods, plus the specifics of counter-intelligence. Finally, he rounds up with the ethical aspects of business intelligence.
The final, sixth part, titled The Technical Requirements of Business Intelligence and Counter-Intelligence, was written by information protection expert Mihály Rohánszky, general secretary of the Hungarian Detective Association. He gives a detailed description of the state of the art instruments and tools of data gathering (plus colour pictures), and also deals with radio frequency data transmission, the methods of debugging and the legal background.
